Water Drought Project

2012 saw a dry spring which followed a dry winter.  Consequently, water restrictions were imposed in many areas of the country, including Liphook.  We needed a plan to allow us to continue with our summer planting in the flower beds and hanging baskets yet which provided a sustainable (and legal!) method of keeping them well watered. With the offer of a very large water butt from Balfour Beatty, transport to Simon Coytes Yard from Alfie Haynes General Builders, an old trailer as a stand from the Parish Council and water from Foley Estate ponds and a regular supply of recycled water from Russel Ayres we were back in business!
We now also have a longer term and regular supply of water from rainwater catchment off in the building in Coytes Yard and from Russel Ayres. This is essential to water the hanging baskets and plant containers, which require some 2,000 litres per week.
