Sunflower Competition 2026
After all the hard work, hot weather, slug and snail uninvited guests and the lack of rain, we finally have winners in the Sunflower Competition 2026. Thank you so much for taking part and I hope that you had fun and most especially that you will join us again next year. The results are set out below and I am attaching some photos of our winning entries.
The tallest sunflower was grown by Harry (aged 9) whose stunning bloom reached 378cm. The second tallest was grown by Thomas (also aged 9) who took first prize for a truly magnificent collection of sunflowers. Wendy collected third place in the tallest sunflower group.
The sunflower with most blooms category was won Gill, whose sunflower produced an amazing 48 blooms! Harsha collected her seedling from the Liphook in Bloom stand at the Picnic on the Green earlier in the year and achieved second place in the most blooms category. Gill was runner up in the best collection category.
Olivia was the youngest grower at just 2 years old and earned a highly commended in the tallest category.
Each winner collected a special mug from our sponsor, Grayshott Pottery, Grayshott Pottery | Makers of English stoneware since 1956 and a certificate from our Chair, Lesley on Saturday at an awards ceremony hosted by Kiki T’s in The Square.Â
The Haslemere Herald will be running our story about the competition online from 19th August and in print the following week, if you are interested in taking a look.
I hope that you enjoy the rest of the summer, thank you again for taking part in our competition and don’t forget to collect those sunflower seeds for next year!
