<\/a><\/p>\nBasically a vibrating whacker plate mounted onto a large sheet of wire grids. \u00a0This contraption is attached\u00a0onto a monster machine\u00a0to raise it off the ground….<\/p>\n
We don’t really need such a large machine to do this, we just like playing with big boys toys.<\/p>\n The problem with using equipment once a year is that things don’t always go as expected. \u00a0In trying to start the whacker plate the starting cord broke……<\/p>\n Then, in trying to replace the cord the recoil spring flew out and unwound…<\/p>\n But luckily with our new “fixit man” Roy, and master recoil fixer Terry Burns, we put it back together and started the engine. \u00a0Phew !<\/p>\n At that point it’s all hands to the pumps as we throw 4 tons (yes, FOUR TONS !) of wood chipping onto the grid, which shakes the fine stuff through so we can discard all the big lumps.<\/p>\n We then bag up the riddled compost into old garden plastic bags, load them onto Paul Johnson’s truck and offload them safe and ready to cover the village flower beds to keep the weeds done. \u00a0Thankfully, the girls (Irene and Jan) arrived with much needed tea and coffee…..<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
